Rägänugä bhakti… after Bhäva stage?
Question- MAHÄRÄJA JÉ ! One devotee Bäladäsa from Iskcon Mayapur wants a clarification, only after attaining the stage of bhäva, we can do Rägänugā bhakti, not before that. Please enlighten us.
MAHÄRÄJA JÉ – For this question, you have to understand, what Bhäva stage actually is and what Rägänugā bhakti actually is? By understanding these two things, you can decide on your own. If somebody is saying that, only after attaining a stage of bhäva, one can do Rägänugā bhakti. one can begin Rägänugā bhakti after attaining the stage of bhäva. Anyone who is saying that be very clear that person is hundred percent situated not in knowledge but hundred percent situated in ignorance; why is so? Why am I saying this?
Be very clear! Whether you want to attain däsa bhakti of Lord Näräyaëa, you will gradually have to cross the stages – anartha nivåitti, niñöhä, ruci, äsakti, bhäva, prema; even if you want to attain the service of Lord Näräyaëa. And, even if you want to attain a service of Lord Kåñëa in däsya rasa. Be very attentive! Even if you want to attain Kåñëa service in däsya rasa in Goloka, you will have to go through the stage of anartha nivåitti, niñöhä, ruci, äsakti, bhäva, that bhäva stage will come there also. In Kåñëa däsya rasa, bhäva stage will come, and in Näräyaëa däsya rasa also. And if you want to attain sakhya bhakti of Kåñëa, again anartha nivåitti, niñöhä, ruci, äsakti, bhäva stage and prema. And Gopé bhäva also, same bhäva stage; after anartha nivåitti, bhäva, prema! And, Maïjaré bhäva also. Gradually, all the stage you pass and then you will attain stage of bhäva and then Prema!
If the person is saying, you have to attain the stage of bhäva then you will start rägänugā bhakti then.., if a person is saying you have to attain the stage of bhäva then do Rägänugā bhakti, then it is very plain and simple that person doesn’t even know what is he talking about? The question itself is wrong! You tell me, answered to your question– what stage of bhäva you will reach, in which rasa? Stage of bhäva is reached in a particular rasa. I told you, in Näräyaëa bhakti, in Kåñëa’s däsya bhakti, Kåñëa sakhya bhakti, vätsalya bhakti, maïjaré bhakti, gopé bhäva — in all stages, you reach the stage of bhäva. So you tell me, you want to say you will attain a stage of bhäva then you will do rägänugā bhakti, then which stage of bhäva, in which rasa you will attain stage of bhäva before doing rägänugā bhakti?
Are you doing Kåñëa bhakti? Yes! But you are saying, you are doing Kåñëa bhakti but you will attain some imaginary stage of bhäva and then you will do rägänugā bhakti, but Rägänugā bhakti is., Kåñëa bhakti was always Rägänugā bhakti. You are saying you are doing Kåñëa bhakti. I am not saying! You are saying you are doing Kåñëa bhakti. If you are doing Kåñëa bhakti, it is rägänugā bhakti first of all, then you cannot cross over; you need not cross over. And, if you are doing some form of Kåñëa bhakti, without any of the five rasas then please tell us which kind of Kåñëa bhakti is this? It is not mentioned anywhere in the scriptures. Scriptures says däsaya form’ däsaya bhakti of Kåñëa, sakhya bhakti, vätsalya, gopé bhäva, maïjaré bhäva.
There is no generic Kåñëa bhakti. General Kåñëa bhakti and specific Kåñëa bhakti; have you ever heard in any scriptures? I am doing general Kåñëa bhakti of the Lord, then I will switch on to specific Kåñëa bhakti of the Lord, in a particular rasa. You tell us then which form of Kåñëa bhakti, you are doing right now? Any… any rasa, any Kåñëa… any rasa in which you are doing bhakti right now? No! Then you are doing bhakti bhava-less, you are doing bhakti without bhäva. You are not doing bhakti in Kåñëa däsya bhäva or sakya bhäva, vätsalya or maïjaré or gopé bhäva. You are not doing that, then you want to attain the stage of bhäva without doing bhakti in any bhäva; does it make sense to anyone? You want to attain the stage of bhäva without doing bhakti in any bhäva.
Generic bhakti, by doing generic bhakti you want to attain an imaginary stage of bhäva, without doing bhakti in any bhäva; does this make any sense to anyone who is hearing this? Even if I die, even after my death, even after hundred years if anyone will hear this, they will laugh at the current Iskcon people for what they are talking about. You want to reach an imaginary stage of bhäva without doing bhakti in any form of any bhäva. You don’t… Do you know what the stage of bhäva actually is? Have you seen anyone in the stage of bhäva? I have seen many! Do you know anyone? Practically, you have seen anyone in the stage of bhäva? You know, what the stage of bhäva actually is?
Bhäva stage means when your mind, your intelligence, your ego, everything about you is totally coloured in a form.., enveloped, coloured in a particular bhäva for the supreme Lord. Bhäva stage means when your mind, intelligence, ego are sakhya-ised, if you want to become a sakhä, then you become sakhya-ised in a way. If you want to become a Gopé of the Lord and you attain the stage of bhäva then your mind, intelligence, ego everything Gopéya-ised; Nothing remains in your subtle body to be a Gopé-ised further. Totally! Mind, intelligence, ego is totally enveloped in a particular, colour for Çré Kåñëa. Anyone who wants to attain stage of vätsalya rasa also, in that bhäva stage – his mind, intelligence everything about it, He is just completely vätsalya rasa-ised.
You want to say that attaining such a higher stage, when you are completely happy in your relationship with Kåñëa, you will stop that bhakti and you will do some kind of rägänugā bhakti. I mean first of all, how you will attain stage of bhäva without doing bhakti in any bhäva? Have some mercy on yourself. Answer yourself this stupid question – How can anyone attain stage of bhäva without doing bhakti in any bhäva? And, after attaining such a high stage of bhäva, I will leave that and crossover to form to do another imaginary concept of bhakti. And, bhakti is not by our choice. Bhakti is bestowed by the sampradäya.
If you already got the seed of Rädhä-Kåñëa bhakti, which everyone has got in Gauòéya Vaiñëava sampradäya; why the need for crossover? You already got the highest. Have you ever heard of cross over bhakti? “Our authority above us says- Do this.”
Are you mad? Only a mad people can speak this stupid philosophy. Nonsense! Complete nonsense! Garbage!
I know, what stage of bhäva is? I know that! Do you know practically, what stage of bhäva is? Are you on that stage? No! You don’t know. Neither you are, nor you have any awareness of the stage. I know what bhäva stage is, I know the people, devotees in bhäva stage. I know what their situation is. You will go mad, just by seeing the person in bhäva stage. Mind, intelligence, ego, everything is completely enveloped in bhäva… rather Vätsalya bhäva, if you are in puñöi märga and if you are worshipper of Rädhä-Kåñëa…, I meant it is completely enveloped. And, without doing bhakti day and night in a particular bhäva, how will you reach the stage of bhäva? You tell me, answer!
Without doing bhakti in a particular bhäva day and night, months on end, years on end, how will you attain the stage of bhäva? And what form of seed of devotion you got from your Guru, you are rejecting seed of devotion from your Guru. When you get dékñä, dékñä means your relationship with the Lord in a particular rasa is established. There is no need to cross over for you. You cannot cross-over. You get siddhi only in a Sampradäya. Sampradäya gives you a relationship and only in that relationship, you do bhakti — it grows and you attain your… then chanting reveals your svarüpa. You already got the relationship then why is there any need to cross over?
Believe in Jéva Gosvämépada! Jéva Gosvämépäda says- A particular relationship of the Lord, Spiritual Master establishes at the time of dékñä. Sampradäya restores the bhäva and Gurudeva, on the behalf of the entire Sampradäya gives you the same bhäva the entire Sampradäya … which the entire Sampradäya is following. So, if you are already in a Gauòéya Vaiñëava Sampradäya, very plain and simple – we are following…, worshippers of Rädhä and Kåñëa. Why the hell, this question comes — need to cross over from the stage of bhäva? Do attain the stage of bhäva, then do Rägänugā bhakti; are you mad?
Our bhakti in Gauòéya Vaiñëava Sampradäya from day one is rägänugā bhakti. Mahäprabhu has come here to give us that bhakti, which was not given earlier. Earlier, Kåñëa sakhya bhakti was there, däsya bhakti was there, vätsalya, gopé bhäva was there. He has come to give us Rädhä-Kåñëa bhakti. Then why is that the question itself arises– “I don’t know, I have to reach that stage, I have to do that.” Are you mad??
You have got no understanding of Sampradäya, you have got no understanding of, what is Gauòéya Vaiñëava Sampradäya, you have got no understanding of What Mahäprabhu came to give? You don’t know the bhäva stage. You don’t have seen… you haven’t seen anyone in the bhäva stage. You don’t know – there was never any cross over from the bhäva stage in any sampradäya, in any yuga. Why are you construing a completely imaginary philosophy and misleading so many innocent devotees in Gauòéya Vaiñëava Sampradäya. Is there… why there is… why are you speaking of something which you have got no awareness of. The leader who speaks like this, they can’t even sit in front of me.
I ask the simple question, do you know– “What the bhäva stage is?”
They ask me- “Do you know bhäva?” I will say – “Yes!”
“You know?” “No!”
“Are you in the bhäva stage?” You are not.
Do you know of any single person who has attained your so-called, Kälpanika, your imaginary stage of bhäva and then started rägänugā bhakti? Do you know the single person? I am accepting your philosophy now. Tell me an example of a single person who has done all that stuff, which you are talking about. What is that generic form of bhäva, you tell us — We will take shelter of all of you then. All of us will take your shelter.
There is a general stage of bhäva; come on!
Without doing bhakti in bhäva, you will attain the stage of bhäva?? Are you mad?? And, you want to cross over, from the stage of bhäva you want to crossover to rägänugā bhakti. It means, you know what stage of bhäva is?
In the words of Narottama Däsa Öhäkura, He says:
pakväpakva mätra se vicära
(Prema Bhakti Candrikä Verse 56)
Like mango! You see mango when it’s unripe on a tree, it is Green – dark green, gradually green-ness goes away, yellowness comes in and then it will become fully riped.
You want to say that the mango becomes 80-90 percent ripe, you will leave that, that mango will become orange someday. Are you in your senses?? You will leave the stage of bhäva, bhäva means you have become almost riped mango. Almost riped mango will become orange all of sudden, orange will become a banana or it will become a pomegranate, all of a sudden because your is an imaginary world.
Have you ever done bhajana? You know, what bhajana is? And you are speaking all this bhäva stage and stuff. You come to me; I will realise you what the bhäva stage is?
You attain the stage of bhäva, in which rasa you attain the stage of bhäva? You tell us simple answer! You have…, you say, after attaining the stage of bhäva, you will do rägänugā. Arre! Which stage of bhäva you will attain? In which rasa, you will attain?
Stage of bhäva can be attained only in a particular rasa!
You tell us which rasa; in which rasa you will attain the stage of bhäva and then you will leave it and then you will do some kind of kälpanika rägänugā bhakti; imaginary! Why are you fooling yourself and so many innocent followers all around the world when you don’t know anything about rägänugā bhakti.
You don’t know anything about the bhäva stage. You know what the colouring of mind, intelligence and ego in a particular bhäva actually means; do you know this? Do you know this? Ask any of your leaders, do you know this — What the meaning of colouring of mind, intelligence and ego in a particular bhäva actually is? Citta covered in a particular bhäva, do you know the meaning of this?
Life-long you are trying to grow a mango and when it became almost ripe, you want to leave and you want to make that mango into an orange; this is what you are talking about. And you think of that mango will become orange. See your foolishness!
First of all, your desire is stupid and then your imaginary is far more stupid. Desire is, ‘mango should become orange’ and you think it will become also — orange one day. Wah!! All glories to your foolishness! All glories to your ignorance!
May no Gauòéya Vaiñëava ever come in touch even with your shadow. May Lord save all the Gauòéya Vaiñëavas even from your shadow, shadow of your institution.
If You are doing Kåñëa bhakti, you are only saying, I am doing Kåñëa bhakti… Tell us, in which rasa you are doing Kåñëa bhakti? All Sampradäya do Kåñëa bhakti in one rasa only. If you have got eyes, if you have got legs then use them, Go and See– every sampradaya, they will do Kåñëa bhakti in one rasa only. No sampradäya is a super market of all rasas. ~ ‘We have all rasas ?!?!’
We don’t have all rasas. We are Gauòéya Vaiñëavas! We have one rasa— servitude of Rädhä and Kåñëa. No sampradäya claims to be the super market of all rasas, except this Iskcon and Gaudiya Maöha. Unique creatures of this world.
Arre! Sampradäya means you are bestowing one Rasa. It is not a super market; it is not a mall. Sampradäya is not a mall, it is a specific shop. You go to an ice cream parlour, Baskin Robbins, you will get the ice-cream only of a Baskin Robbins; you are not getting the Nirula’s and a,b and c ice-cream in that. Sampradäya means a specific shop, not the mall which you get everything. Sampradäya is not a mall! Sampradäya means samyaka pradäyate, one rasa is given in a totality to you. One rasa! Not all rasäsa.
If all rasäsa can be given in one sampradäya, then there is no need for all sampradäya. The one sampradäya is sufficient. Get initiated in that Sampradäya – get all rasas. No need to go anywhere. Super sampradäya has come, above four sampradäya. Supera sampradäya! Supara- Sampradäya! Supara mundane! Supara-sampradäya has come which is giving all.
None of the bonafide four sampradäya give all rasas. All Sampradäya give one rasa.
And all, Mahäprabhu has come here to bestow – Madhura bhäva – service of Rädhä. What is difficult to understand in this? Why are you making things complicated? Why are you ruining a life of innocent Gauòéya Vaiñëavas, in this imaginary philosophy – you are not qualified.
Rädhä Vallabhaya are qualified for Rädhä-Kåñëa bhakti. Haridäsés are qualified for Rädhä-Kåñëa bhakti. Nimbärkiyä are qualified for Rädhä. Only we, this Iskcon, Gaudiya Matha people are not qualified. I mean, common! Please stop robbing innocent devotees of what they can really get. Your ignorance is robbing innocent devotees.
All your institutional leaders, without having knowledge, without tattvetta, you are not – ‘sei kåñëa tattvetta sei guru haye.”
You have not got knowledge of even abcd of Gauòéya Vaiñëavism. You don’t know what Sampradäya is? You don’t know what Gauòéya Vaiñëava Sampradäya is? You don’t know what eternal tilaka is? And you are claiming to be tattvetta – saviour of the whole world?!?
Attaining the stage of bhäva, without doing bhakti in any bhäva is just like trying to fill a bucket with water without putting in any form of water. Can you fill a bucket with water, without putting in any water? Is it possible? Without doing bhakti in any bhäva, you want to make your heart filled with bhäva.
Com’on! Why everything is so stupid about your philosophy? And, Why I am speaking all this? I am speaking out of sheer compassion for all of you. I have got nothing to, what can I gain from any of you? If I can gain anything from you, I mean – just think about. I am just here to give you the real knowledge, which has almost been lost.
My Gurudeva, Çréla Ananta Däsa Bäbäjé, I went to see Him on my birthday once and I was asking Him for Blessings, to bless me. All of a sudden! He said, the real knowledge in Gauòéya Vaiñëava Sampradäya is getting lost, you have to save Gauòéya Vaiñëavas Sampradäya. All of a sudden! I went there on my birthday to seek His blessings and He is giving me a special service and special blessing. I ask Him to give me the blessing to save our Gauòéya Vaiñëava Sampradäya. He said, you already have that. All, so many Bäbäjés, sannyäsés are His…, renunciates are His disciples, He never told this to anybody to save Gauòéya. He told me to save Gauòéya Vaiñëava Sampradäya.
I am just giving you all this knowledge just as my service for…, my service to my GURUDEVA. He told me to save, I am trying to save. I am just a via medium. I am just trying to do what my Gurudeva told me to do – He told me to write books, I write books; He told me to speak in such a way and show by your äcaraëa.. show by your practical application what bhakti actually is? So, I am trying to do both.
Vaidhi Bhakti is vaidhi bhakti from day one to day last day. Rägänugā is they are.., däsya bhakti of Kåñëa is däsya bhakti from day one to last day. Sakhya bhakti is, day one from sakhya bhakti… sakhya from first to last days. Same is Gopé bhäva is – same from first day to.. You get the seed of Gopé bhäva from a Guru. You get the seed of däsya bhävä from your Guru. You get the seed of vätsalya bhäva from a different Guru. They are all in different sampradäya…, you don’t get seeds, all these seeds in a same Sampradäya. Sampradäya gives only one seed.
You get connected to a Sampradäya and there shouldn’t be any question — whether you are qualified or not. Lord chose you to be in a Sampradäya, so you are qualified to do bhakti of that Éñöa deva. It means you are qualified to hear, chant and remember the Éñöa deva of the Sampradäya. Our Éñöa deva is Rädhä and Kåñëa, so there is no..; this question is wrong – you are not qualified!
Lord Éñöa thinks that I am qualified, and your institution small leaders, small time leaders, you think, I am not qualified. You think, you are greater authority than Lord Gauräìga? He puts me in this Gauòéya Vaiñëava Sampradäya or you put me? He did that! He thinks, I am qualified enough to hear and speak about Him, hear and remember Him. If he thinks, I am qualified, why do you think, I am not?
And, in Sampradäya, you don’t choose bhäva, you are bestowed with a bhäva.
~ Oh! When I will attain the stage of bhäva na then I will do some form of rägänugā bhakti.
I mean, are you roaming in your private park?? You have taken shelter of a sampradäya, you think you will choose a bhäva. Are you mad? Sampradäya bestows only one but you think, you will still choose a bhäva.
~ Can I do sakhya bhakti of Çré Kåñëa, I am a Gauòéya Vaiñëava? Chant Hare Kåñëa! I chant 16 rounds.
Know what Sampradäya is, know what Gauòéya Vaiñëava Sampradäya is. Why are you living in an imaginary world where you can do everything and anything of your choice?
içvaro ahaà, ahaà bhogé
ahaà balaväna, ahaà sukhé
And, to give you more clarity on this —
If you want to attain Kåñëa däsya bhakti, there are different Maìgala Äraté for that, and different way of offering bhoga. If you want to attain Kåñëa däsya bhakti, different Maìgala Äraté is being done, different way of offering bhoga is being done, different Sandhyä Äraté is being done.
And, if you want to attain vätsalya bhakti for Çré Kåñëa, totally different Maìgala Äraté is being done, totally different way of offering bhoga is being done, totally different Sandhya Äraté is being done.
And if you want to attain a Gopé bhäva like Bilvamaìgala Öhäkura etc., Caëòé Däsa, totally different Maìgala Äraté is being done. Pada is different, bhoga offering is different, Granthas are different, everything is different.
That is why, sampradäya can bestow only one thing; in one rasa, everyone does bhakti. In maïjaré bhäva, Maìgala Äraté is different.
Bhoga! See, we offer bhoga in three stages — First to Kåñëa, then Kåñëa prasädé to Rädhäräné and Rädhäräné prasädé to maïjaré, rüpa maïjaré and our Guru maïjaré varga. Common sense understanding is, we are doing this bhoga offering because we are a maïjarés and we offer it through our Guru Maïjaré.
If one is in sakhya rasa, is there any need for them to offer food like this to Kåñëa, to Rädhäräné, to Maïjarés? There is no need.
If you are in vätsalya rasa, is there any need to offer food in three steps to Kåñëa, then to Rädhä, then to maïjaré? There is no need.
Offering food in these three steps, it is not required in Kåñëa däsaya rasa, it is not required in Kåñëa’s sakhya rasa.
And, we do Maìgala Äraté in a particular way. Kåñëa däsa or Vätsalya or Gopé, they need not to knowing that those pada gänas; they are exclusively for maïjaré bhäva devotees.
All sampradäya you go to, open your eyes, get your legs moving, go and see for yourself, you will see that all sampradaya, they do particular form of Maìgala Äraté, in a particular rasa every day of the week.
You are doing Maìgala Äraté and there is no pada gäna for Éñöa deva? Uniquest Maìgala Äraté on the planet, where there is no pada gäna for the Éñöa deva. Generic Maìgala Äraté! Then, you want to say that gradually you will attain the stage of bhäva. But, you are doing generic Maìgala Äraté then you will do specific Maìgala Äraté. Specific Sakhä Maìgala Äraté you will do eventually, not now because you are not qualified. And then, if you are in vätsalya rasa, we should attain vätsalya bhäva then you will do special Maìgala Äraté vätsalya bhäva Mangla Äraté you will do. Have you done seeing anyone doing that in your Gauòéya Iskcon? Have you done seeing anyone doing specific vätsalya-rasa-yukta Maìgala Ärati? Then why are you fooling yourself and others?
There is no generic Maìgala.. there is no general Maìgala Äraté of Kåñëa, first of all. Maìgala Äraté of Kåñëa is done in a particular rasa, which is bestowed by a sampradäya. No other rasa, No other sampradäya do proper bhakti, proper bhakti is very simple – Know your Éñöa Deva, hear and chant about Him and remember Him. Is there any difficult thing I am talking about?
Want to do in vätsalya rasa, then hear and chant about Him in vätsalya rasa and remember Him, try to serve Him mentally in vätsalya rasa. And, if you want to serve as a däsa like rataraka- pataraka, hear and chant about how däsa serves.
Däsa in Vaikuëöha thinks, Oh! Lord Näräyaëa is God and I am His servant, but Rataraka-Pataraka, they never think like this. O my prince Kåñëa! Rajakumara! He Beautiful Prince Kåñëa! I just want to serve Him. I just want to make Him happy. They don’t think Kåñëa as God.
So, däsa bhakti is totally different, Maìgala Äraté in Rataraka-Pataraka bhäva is differnet, Sakhya bhäva is different, Gopé Bhäva… all.
You want to say that you are such a special super market of all Maìgala Äratés, bhoga mantras, dékñä mantras of all rasas; do you know what you are talking about? You are doing saàsära dävänala as a general Maìgala Äraté? Then you will attain the stage of bhäva, in a bhäva-less stage, you will attain the stage of bhäva and then you will do Maìgala Äraté in a specific bhäva? You want to say that? Have some sense! You have been brain washed to such an extent that you have lost even common sense; Forget Spiritual sense! Forget viveka! You don’t even have common sense.
You want to understand bhakti in a very simple word,
jäki upäsana, tähi ki väsana,
tähi ke näma rüpa guëa gäiye
what more to understand? jäki upäsana, whomsoever you want to worship – Rädhä-Kåñëa or Näräyaëa or Narasiàha, have desire to attain them tähi ki väsana, hear about them, chant about them, remember them. That’s it!
And if you have just., if you are clear that what… what sampradäya you are in, then there is no question for that also. Sampradäya gives one bhäva! Know the bhäva of sampradäya and hear, chant about the Lord and remember the Lord. And, just remove Bhaktivinoda Öhäkura and his family and followers from your life and your life becomes simple– plain and simple!
We Gauòéya Vaiñëava, we have two svarüpa – one as Gaura däsa! One as däsé of Rädhä and Kåñëa! Hear and chant about Rädhä-Kåñëa and remember, and about Gaura. hear and chant and remember Gaura, this is bhakti. What is so difficult to understand? Are we talking something about trigonometry or some physics-chemistry? Algorithms? No! Simple things, we are talking about, but you have been so wrongly brain washed by these institutions, that even the common sense, seed of common sense has been removed from your heart; forget seed of bhakti. Seed of common sense is not remaining in your heart.
You will attain some generic bhäva stage, then you will do rägänugä bhakti. OK! tell me as you may have attained stage of that generic stage, tell me, how you will do sakhya rasa bhakti? Tell me now! Tell me! We have assumed here, you have achieved stage of that bhäva stage which you imagined, there is some sort of bhäva, tell me, how you will do sakhya bhakti? Tell me, which Maìgala you will do? Then, you will take shelter of another Guru? Because Guru only gives rasa, seed of a rasa. You, attaining such a higher stage of bhäva, you will accept another Guru? All glories to your ignorance! May lord save all souls from reaching even your shadow.
