Bonafide Paramparä
Every moment every living entity/everyone wants just ONE thing- HAPPINESS, which can be attained by getting CONNECTED to the Happiness Personified Lord Çré Kåñëa (raso vah saù- ) !!
The Connection to the Lord is possible ONLY through connection to a Bonafide Paramparä…!!
Bhakti means Loving Devotional Service of the Lord. To love, one needs to have specific relationship with the Lord. The Lord Çré Kåñëa is akhila rasämåta sindhu. In other words, He is ready to accept any kind of relation one wants to establish with Him.
One can establish oneself in the relation of servant (däsa), friend (sakhä), parent (vätsalya) or conjugal love (mädhurya- sakhé or maïjaré) of the Lord. This specific relationship with the Lord is established by the Spiritual Master through Initiation in the unbroken Lineage (Paramparä).
Paramparä-
Paramparä means a succession, in which ONLY ONE bhäva (the mood to worship the Lord) is practiced, was practiced and will be practised. The predecessors and followers practice same bhäva (ONLY ONE). By definition, Paramparä means following, followership and not inventing.
Paramparä always starts from the Lord, His Associates. It is always unbroken. Paramparä means a single line of tilaka, mantras, practice, preaching, dress, ideology etc.
All the Paramparäs, the Guru Varga in paramparä eternally exist in the Spiritual World. It comes into existence over a period of time. All members of Paramparä are eternally worshipable.
Bonafide Paramparä ?¿?
It is often found devotees asking “whether the Paramparä is bonafide or not.” Actually, this question is wrong. Paramparä is either present or not present. Paramparä means Bonafide Paramparä. In other words, it always starts from the Lord and is always unbroken.
Connection to Paramparä-
One can be connected to Paramparä through Initiation/Dékñä. Unless one is connected to bonafide Paramparä, one cannot gain entry into Nitya Vraja/Spiritual World. All lineages are equally beautiful (no higher or lower among them), but for siddhi (perfection), one can be finally connected to one unbroken bonafide lineage only.
Whatever Lineage (Paramparä) one is connected to, a sädhaka should be a strict follower of his Immediate four Gurus/own Guru (Dékñä Guru), Parama Guru (Dékñä Guru of your own Guru), Parätpar Guru (Dékñä Guru of Parama Guru) and Parmeñöhi Guru (Dékñä Guru of Parätpar Guru).
Gauòéya Vaiñëava Paramparä
1) Gauòéya Vaiñëavism is the most merciful gift of Çréman Mahäprabhu to all the people of Kaliyuga. According to the Gosvämés, this is the greatest, the most superlative and the most extraordinary goal of life. This is the highest step on the staircase of advancement to the Spiritual Kingdom that the jévas can ascend to through their sädhanä bhajana.
2) Gauòéya Vaiñëava means serving Çré Çré Yugala Sarkära in Nitya Vraja as a Maïjaré and Çréman Mahäprabhu in Nitya Navadvépa as a Kiçora Brähmaëa.
3) Gauòéya Vaiñëavism is a paramparä of Maïjaré Bhäva, where the predecessors and followers practiced only maïjaré bhäva, are practicing only maïjaré bhäva and will practice only maïjaré bhäva. There is no adulteration of any bhävas. It is not that my Guru is in maïjaré bhäva but I am in sakhya bhäva, or my Guru is in sakhya bhäva but I am in maïjaré bhäva. This is no Parmaparä, certainly not Gauòéya Vaiñëavism.
All the bonafide Paramparäs have practised and given only this sädhanä (of maïjaré bhäva) since the disappearance of Çréman Mahäprabhu. Vätsalya, sakhya and even bhajana in gopé bhäva (näyikä bhäva) is not the bhajana of Gauòéya Vaiñëavas.
4) Paramparä means a single line of tilaka, mantra, practice, preaching, dress, ideology. It is certainly not inventing new mantras, ideology, tilaka, dress and still professing as belonging to any Paramparä.
5) Being a Gauòéya Vaiñëava is not just about chanting Hare Kåñëa Mahämantra. Being a Gauòéya Vaiñëava means, that one should have a connection with a Parivära i.e., connection to the service of Mahäprabhu through an eternal associate of Çréman Mahäprabhu. A devotee has a very intimate personal connection with some Parivära.
6) Pariväras in Gauòéya Vaiñëava Paramparä- There are many Pariväras like-
Nityänanda Parivära,
Advaita Parivära,
Çyämänanda Parivära,
Jéva Gosvämé Parivära,
Gopäla Bhaööa Gosvämé Parivära,
Vakreçvara Parivära,
Narottama Parivära,
Çréväsa Paëòita Parivära,
Gadädhara Paëòita Parivära,
Narahari Sarkära Öhäkura Parivära etc.
7) Of all the different Pariväras, one must be connected to any one of them, so as to have absolute clarity for doing sädhanä bhakti.
8) Connection to a Parivära is very very very very important.
a. Parivära determines our channel to serve Çréman Mahäprabhu.
b. Parivära determines our eternal tilaka (which that eternal associate of Mahäprabhu puts up and his entire Guru Paramparä puts up)-
Each Parivära has its own distinct tilaka.
The tilaka which one gets from his Parivära, the same tilaka he puts on in Navadvépa Dhäma after siddhi.
Gauòéya Vaiñëavas coming in proper Paramparäs, the followers of Gosvämés, never apply yellowish tilaka. From the time of Mahäprabhu till now, tilaka of Gauòéya Vaiñëavas is from Vraja-raja, is thus always blackish in colour. All proper lineages from Advaita, Narottama etc. never put yellowish tilaka in the past, do not put yellowish tilaka in the present and in future also, the genuine followers of Çré Rüpa, Sanätana will follow their worshipable Guru-Varga only. This tilaka is not just for this world, it is eternal.
(Can Read- ‘What is..Tilaka’ for details)
c. Parivära determines our Guru Praëälé (disciplic succession of Guru from Mahäprabhu)
d. Parivära determines our eternal place of residence in Navadvépa-
The Eternal Residence in Nitya Navadvépa of those initiated in Advaita Parivära, is in the south-east side of the Dhäma around Çré Advaita.
Just South of Çré Advaita’s residence i.e., towards south side of south-east side of Dhäma is the residence of devotees like us, who are initiated in Çré Nityänanda Parivära.
On the western side, is the residence of those initiated in Narahari Sarkära Öhäkura’s Parivära.
Towards north-west side of Dhäma, is residence of those initiated under Çré Gadädhara Parivära.
Towards the western side of the northern region, is the residence of those initiated under Çyämänanda Parivära, Narottama Parivära.
In the north-east side of the Dhäma, is the large estate of Çréväsa Paëòita, where Devotees initiated under Parivära of Çréväsa Paëòita reside.
e. Parivära determines our sevä kñetra-
Those belonging to Çré Nityänanda Parivära-
serve under Çré Nityänanda Prabhu in Navadvépa.
sevä goes under Çré Anaìga Maïjaré in Vraja.
Those under Vakreçvara Parivära-
serve under Tungavidyä Sakhé in Vraja.
f. Parivära determines our channel to serve Çré Çré Rädhä Mädhava.
g. Parivära determines our mantras-
In Çré Nityänanda Parivära, Anaìga Maïjaré mantra is given.
Those under Vakreçvara Parivära, chant Tungavidyä Sakhé mantra and pray to her for sevä.
In some Parivära, one serves under Lalitä Sakhé and they are given Lalitä Sakhé’s mantra.
In some Parivära, sevä goes under Viçäkhä Sakhé, so they are not given Çré Anaìga Maïjaré mantra or Lalitä mantra or other Sakhé’s mantra. They are given Viçäkhä Sakhé’s mantra.
The Sakhé under whom we serve eternally, only that Sakhé’s mantra is given.
h. Parivära determines our real ego
(I am such and such. My Yütheçvaré is such and such etc).
i. Parivära determines our Siddha Praëälé (a chain of disciplic succession, through which we serve Çré Yugala).
j. All the Pariväras of Gauòéya Vaiñëava Paramparä still exist in both Navadvépa and Vraja-Bhümi and are practising precisely how Mahäprabhu wished- the pure maïjaré bhäva sädhanä and not worship of any other Viçnu Tattva.
k. If one’s dékñä Guru is from Nityänanda Parivära, all his Gurus – Guru, Parama Guru, Parätpara Guru and Parmeñöhi Guru will be from same Parivära, will be doing same mantras, will put on same tilaka and will reside at same place.
9) Myth vs Fact about Gauòéya Vaiñëava Paramparä-
MYTH | FACT | |
---|---|---|
|
*Putting great personalities in Gauòéya Vaiñëavism together and calling that a Paramparä.* It’s not that of the last 500 years, there are 25 famous personalities and out of them as per one’s likes, one can make a Paramparä of some.*It’s an offence to omit some members of the Paramparä, thinking them not as important or not very prominent; putting exalted personalities of other Paramparäs in place of one’s own Paramparä is a very very offensive act.
|
* Wishful making of Paramparä as per one’s choice of prominence or as per greatest contributors in one’s Spiritual life, is not only a sheer imagination but the main problem is that it will not lead you anywhere, because unless the Paramparä is unbroken, the sädhaka will not get entry into Nitya Vraja. Änugatya’mayé sevä, one’s Kuïja, one’s Guru Maïjaré, one’s place of residence, all these are required for entry into Nitya Vraja. |
|
*white and/saffron | *Paramparä is single line of dress. Moreover, in Gauòéya Vaiñëava Paramparä, there is only white dress. |
|
*Applying Yellowish and/blackish Tilaka. | * Gauòéya Vaiñëavas coming in proper Paramparäs, the followers of Gosvämés, never apply yellowish tilaka. From the time of Mahäprabhu till now, tilaka of Gauòéya Vaiñëavas is from Vraja-raja, is thus always blackish in colour. |
|
*Extra mantras are given. | *No extra mantra is given at the time of accepting renounced order of life, in Gauòéya Vaiñëava Paramparä. |

A sincere sädhaka should be connected to one of the 500 year old unbroken lineages coming from Mahäprabhu. He should precisely know his immediate four Gurus in his own Paramaparä and should be their staunch follower.
